The Deputy Superintendence for Legal metrology and Technical Regulations was created by Decree 4886 of 2011, and is in charge to supervise and control the compliance of technical regulations and enforcement faculties related to legal metrology provisions, quality and quantity control of liquid fuels derived from oil distributing stations throughout the Colombian territory.
It is responsible for:
• TECHNICAL REGULATIONS: The SIC seeks that traders meet the security, quality and information requirements established by the National Government for certain products and services for the benefit of consumers.
• LEGAL METROLOGY: As the national legal metrology authority, the SIC ensure that the instruments with which commercial transactions are carried out are adjusted
• PRICE CONTROL: The SIC, committed to the policies established by the National Government regarding product prices, carries out surveillance activities to give confidence of its compliance by traders.
• APPRAISERS: The SIC enforce activities on some actors of the self-regulatory model of the valuation sector provided in Law 1673 of 2013.
