SIC and OECD work together on a global Campaign to promote Consumer Awareness

In order to raise awareness about the risks involved in the free movement of unsafe products over the Internet, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) joined the Global Consumer Awareness Campaign on Product Safety that was organized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the European Commission.

Countries including Australia, Germany, Canada, United States, France, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Turkey were involved in the event that took place from November 12-16.

The SIC invited consumers and users who regularly buy products online to verify that these are not reported on specialized product safety portals.

As reported by the Colombian Authority, in 2018 to date 140 publications of unsafe products have been removed from portals and e-commerce platforms in the country. This proves that they were subject to a security campaign or recall.
