Ms. María José Lamus, Director of Investigations on Consumer Protection of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), traveled to Geneva, Switzerland, in order to participate in the “3° Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Policy”, organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
The Meeting allowed the discussion of global trends on consumer protection and the setting of new guidelines on consumer policy enforcement. The exchange of information and experiences also strengthened the international cooperation in the matter.
It is worth noting that this is the third meeting of the Group of Experts on Consumer issues promoted by UNCTAD and that the country, being a regional reference in this issues, was called to play an active role.
