The Coordinator of the Working Group for the Verification and Control of Technical Regulation and Legal Metrology of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) of Colombia, Mr. Pedro Perez Vargas, attended the Seminar “Border Control and Market Surveillance: Instruments, Experiences, and Lessons Learnt” celebrated in Montevideo, Uruguay, from September 11 to 13, 2018.

This event promoted the exchange of experiences on the one hand, on the procedures to give market access to the electrical household devices, which are subject of labelling programs, and on the efficiency of the different market surveillance methods, on the other.

This event hosted different actors responsible for the implication of the labelling programs such as policy makers, regulatory agencies, control and surveillance bodies, the relevant Quality Institutions (National Metrology Institutes – NMIs, National Standards Bodies – NSBs, National Accreditation Bodies – NABs, testing labs and certification bodies), producers, retailers, and consumers.

During this seminar, Mr. Perez, was able to share with the main regional authorities of legal metrology, the Colombian experience on verification and control of technical regulation and legal metrology, promoting the SIC’s work recognition abroad.
