16 Noviembre, 2022

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, as national authority for Consumer Protection, held until November 4, 2022, the Presidency of the Consumer Safety and Health Network (CSHN) of the Organization of American States (OAS), which was recognized for the improvement of cross-border cooperation and collaborative efforts between the Network's consumer protection and product safety authorities.

Furthermore, the enhancement and updating of the Inter-American Rapid Alert System (SIAR) was one of the priorities of the Colombian presidency, which made it possible to create a more comprehensive and friendly platform. On the other hand, the SIC initiated the first approaches with the OECD, in order to achieve a synchronization between the SIAR and the Global Recalls Portal.

Additionally, Colombia's proposal for more dynamism and a larger participation of member authorities, allowed the integration of new countries into the different working groups. Moreover, within each group, the SIC encouraged a leadership structure and the drafting of a work plan, subject to frequent reviews, approvals and monitoring by the Management Committee.

On November 2, during the IX Plenary Session of the Network, chaired by the Department of Social Inclusion and the Secretariat for Access to Rights and Equity of the Organization of American States, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce of Colombia handed over the Presidency of this Network to Argentina for the 2022-2023 term.
