SIC supports project of Stanford University on computational antitrust

27 Enero, 2022

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) announced its support to the Stanford University project called “Computational Antitrust”, which aims to explore how legal informatics and process automation could improve the analysis of anticompetitive practices.

The “Computational Antitrust” will be able to help competition authorities in a context of highly interconnected and dynamic markets. In fact, the development of artificial methods could contribute to facilitating and improving the performance of antitrust agencies to detect, analyze and respond to unfair competition. Furthermore, these tools would also simplify corporate merger control and other procedures.

This initiative, which is organized by the Codex Center of Stanford University, was launched on January 2021 and integrates more than 60 antitrust agencies and more than 35 scholars who will provide training and workshops.

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce considers this project has a great relevance, which is why it has joined up and will receive its first training provided by Professor Thibault Schrepel.
