Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), as a member of the Andean Community (CAN), participated in the updating of the Andean Patent Manual, a study tool for inventors and examiners of applications, both in terms of substance and form which addresses issues related to the study of patents in the biotechnology sector, computer-implemented inventions, among others.

The new guideline is an update of the same analysis document initially published in 2003. Readers will find information to be taken into account when filling a patent application, elements that are analyzed in the application during the formal and substantive examination, among other lines of content.
