On April 24, Silvia Utrera, Officer of the Deputy Superintendence for Competition Protection shared with the members of the Inter-American Competition Alliance, the case “Boletería Eliminatoria del Mundial de Rusia 2018”. This investigation is related to the resale of tickets to the qualifiers of football matches for the Russia World Cup 2018. Among several aspects that were addressed in the presentation, Ms. Utrera made a great explanation of the Colombian Leniency Program and, most importantly, how relevant this mechanism is due to the fact that because of it the Authority was able to know about the existence of such behaviour. Given the above, it was possible to highlight the benefits that this program has had on the application of the competition law in Colombia when fighting against cartels.
