The Coordinator of the Working Group of Business Supervision and Product Safety of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, Ms. Gloria Ortiz Castañeda, participated as speaker in the International Regulators panel: if past is prologue…are product safety authorities ready for the next quarter century?” along with representatives from United States, European Union and Canada at the ICPHSO 2018 Annual Meeting and Training Symposium. The event took place in Orlando, United States, from February 20 – 23, 2018.

The ICPHSO 2018 Annual Meeting and Training Symposium is the most important event on product safety for Canadian and American industries.

This Symposium, allowed the SIC to share experiences on product safety with national authorities on consumer protection, industry sector, academy and consumers, which enabled the Superintendence to be at the forefront of the current tendencies on security safety.

The meeting was also important as it permitted the SIC to learn about industry approaches to relevant topics such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, world compliance and business ethics on terms of product safety.

The participation of the SIC was relevant in this event since it enabled the entity to analyze the industry approaches to product safety and their mechanisms to link their internal process with information about their security campaigns. All of the above have positively influence the work carried out by Ms. Ortiz as responsible of the supervision of all activities associated with product safety at the SIC, and was very helpful to structure the Fourth International Congress on Consumer Products Safety.
