SIC sanctions Unilever for misleading information and advertising of products

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), in its role as National Authority for Consumer Protection, sanctioned the company UNILEVER ANDINA COLOMBIA with a fine of 201.000 USD, after concluding that the company made misleading claims and advertising in different commercial pieces issued during the sales campaign of its products: "DOVE COMPLETE RECONSTRUCTION" and "POND'S AGE MIRACLE".

The enforcement procedure also showed that the claims announced in the advertising under investigation does not have reliable scientific evidence. Therefore, the right of consumers to receive protection against misleading advertising and obtain clear, truthful, sufficient, timely, verifiable, understandable, accurate, and suitable information about the advertised products was also violated.
