The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (hereafter, SIC), as the Colombian Consumer Protection Authority, issued instructions to producers, suppliers or retailers of mobile equipment, to place a notice on the mobile phone boxes in order to clearly identified the functionalities and the technology that supports each devise. For example, whether the device support 2G, 3G or 4G networks.

From December 7, 2019, this information must be provided in physical and virtual spaces.

These instructions are intended to enforce the consumers’ rights so that they have access to clear and adequate information which allows them to choose the mobile phone that fits their needs. Producers, suppliers or retailers must follow this diagram:

The place of this information will be mandatory from May 7, 2020.
