The Director of New Creations of the SIC, Mr. José Luis Salazar López, participated on behalf of this Entity in the “25th Session of the Standing Committee on the Law of Patents (SCP)”, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from December 12 to 15 of 2016, and was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The participation of the SIC in this event was very important since this authority  manages the National Industrial Property System, and the referred Committee seeks precisely to serve as a forum for discussing patent law issues, facilitating coordination and providing guidance regarding the progressive development of this law field on an international scale.

Mr. Salazar López attended the event as an official representative of the Colombian government and provided technical guidance in discussions of proposals of possible changes to procedural and substantial points in the international patent law field. In addition, considering his role in the SIC, he made contributions about the Colombian patent regime, both to positively project the country's experience in this regard and to defend Colombian interests in eventual transnational regulatory changes.
