Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio

Mr. Hugo Alberto Martínez Luna, Senior Officer of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, assisted to the “XVII Regional Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights for Judges of Latin America” that took place in Antigua, Guatemala, on September, 2019.

This Seminar was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with the collaboration of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM, for its acronym in Spanish) and the Spanish International Cooperation and Development Agency (AECID, for its acronym in Spanish).

The SIC has the power to act as a judge in industrial property issues, specifically related to industrial property rights infringements. This is the reason why we consider it of the utmost importance to continuously train the SIC officers who act as judges in such matters.

During the Seminar, participants were able to analyze the regulatory framework of the different countries and exchange experiences regarding the application and exercise of the rights of P.I. in each jurisdiction.
