Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio

The fourth version of the “International Congress on Free Competition” successfully concluded in Barranquilla. This event was organized by the SIC and was held on November 17-18, 2016. It convened more than 1,200 attendees and counted with the participation of important national and international speakers, such as the Attorney General of Colombia; the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism; presidents of large national and multinational companies; experts from the OECD and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), among others. Speakers and panelists shared their experiences and views during two days on important topics, among which it is worth mentioning bid rigging, business ethics, relevant markets in advertising, competition in ports and competition and development.

One of the main conclusions of the event was that Colombia has become an important leader in Latin America in the fight against cartelization. This was confirmed specially by the international speakers, who claimed that the country is an example in the region in the promotion and enforcement of free competition law.
