The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce ordered Uber to strengthen its technical, human and administrative measures to guarantee the security of the personal data of Colombian users and drivers. The decision was made through Resolution 21478 of 2019.
The SIC said that Uber’s failures in its security protocols during 2016 affected the accounts of 57 million users worldwide, of which 267,000 were Colombian residents.
Therefore, the SIC ordered the implementation of appropriate, useful, effective and demonstrable measures to prevent other security incidents.
Uber must comply with this order within four (4) months.
