The Superintence of Industry and Commerce carried out the “research practices for dominance abuse Consultations” training

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce of Colombia held the workshop on “research practices for Consultations on Dominance Abuse”. The purpose of this three-day workshop was to provide a training to investigate and analyze the competitive effects of abuse of dominance to the staff of the SIC. The workshop was given by the expert Tina Kondo and David Osinski from the Federal Trade Commission of the United States.

The speakers involved the participants through various stages of an investigation, using a case of study whose actual situation is derived from a current case in the United States. The exercise led the participants to work on creating a research plan, conducting interviews, developing information requests and delivering a final evaluation.

The workshop concluded with a discussion on how to apply the skills learned in this case study to other categories of potential abuse of dominance and discussed the need to create appropriate remedies for this behavior.
