The SIC participated in the Seminar: Privacy and Electronic Communications

Mr. Carlos Salazar Muñoz, Director of Investigations on Data Protection of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), attended the “Seminar: Privacy and Electronic Communications", organized by the Ibero-American Data Protection Network (RIPD, for its acronym in Spanish), in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay.

The participation of Mr. Salazar was very important because he was invited to expose about “data security breaches” and the Colombian experience in the matter. Also, this was an important event that allowed the exchange of knowledge related to personal data protection, public surveillance, legislative development and compliance.

In his intervention, Mr. Salazar highlighted the importance of the international cooperation in the analysis and investigations of data breaches, since our modern world has an intrinsic cross-border data flow scheme that requires perfect coordination among different authorities.
