The SIC attended the "Regional seminar on the treatment of patent cooperation (PCT) for the countries of Latin America"

Ms. Alba Lemus Quiroga, official of the Deputy Superintendence for Industrial Property Affairs, participate as speaker in the "Regional Seminar on the Treatment of Patent Cooperation (PCT) for the countries of Latin America” which was held by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with the support of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM). The seminar took place in El Salvador City on July 4-8, 2017.

The main objective of the seminar was to discuss the implementation of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in Central American and Latin American countries. During her speech, Lemus highlighted the signing and development of Accelerated Patent Examination Agreements (PPH), as an effective tool for the improvement of the management of patent applications and as a way to increase the number of user’s applications in Colombia.

Finally, Ms. Lemus referred to the future designation of Colombia as the first South American country to be part of the "Global PPH", formed so far by 22 countries in Europe, North America, Asia, and Oceania.
