The SIC attended the "Intellectual property executive week" in Spain

Ms. Cecila Nieto Porto, advisor of the Deputy Superintendent for Industrial Property Affairs, participated in the “Intellectual Property Executive Week” of the European Patent Office (EPO), which took place in Alicante, Spain. On July 10-14, 2017.

Ms. Nieto was invited to participate on behalf of this Entity to discuss the role of IP Offices in the development of the global economy, as well as the current leadership challenges they face.

This meeting was a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation bonds between different intellectual property authorities and share views on non-agricultural geographical indications. Additionally, Ms. Nieto was able to discuss the impact of the legal representation requirement on the trademark process in the digital era, through digital tools like EPOQUE NET and others alike.
