The general attorneys of Colombia and Ecuador gathered to discuss Odebrecht’s scandal

May 4, 2017

Colombian Attorney General, Néstor Humberto Martínez, presented to his Ecuadorian counterpart 700 thousand files of processed information regarding 6 infrastructure contracts signed by Odebrecht in Ecuador.

In this particular case, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) of Colombia was designated to process more than 12 million files of information seized, during 2 dawn raids, in Odebrecht’s offices in Ecuador, which contained contractual issues that involved both Ecuador and Colombia.

The Office of the Attorney General of Ecuador will use this information to establish if Odebrecht bribed public officials of the Ecuadorian government in order to facilitate the assignation of state contracts.

Ecuador also made a public acknowledgement of the work made by the Colombian authorities and reaffirmed the cooperation ties between both countries.
